About Me

I'm a landrace dog fancier. Founder of the INDog Project (www.indog.co.in) and the INDog Club. Before that, I worked with urban free-ranging dogs of Mumbai from 1993-2007. Also a spider enthusiast and amateur arachnologist.

This blog is for primitive dog enthusiasts. It is part of the INDog Project www.indog.co.in. Only INDogs (India's primitive indigenous village dogs) and INDog-mixes (Indies) are featured here. The two are NOT the same, do please read the text on the right to understand the difference. Our aim: to create awareness about the primitive landrace village dog of the Indian subcontinent. I sometimes feature other landrace breeds too. Also see padsociety.org

Minnie-Me needs a home!

An appeal from Namitta Shankar:

This is Minnie-Me from Mumbai. She was found on the road in terrible shape, flea-infested, a burn wound on her back (apparently some school kids tried burning the mother and pups to have some "fun"). She was too weak to even open her eyes and absolutely not in a position to stand. Her siblings got crushed under a car and she was the only survivor.

I took her in and have nursed her back to health. She's been with me for almost a month and a half and she has shown very good progress.

Minnie-Me has a lovely temperament and is extremely loving and patient. She sleeps well at night without disturbing anyone. She has been dewormed and has been completely vaccinated (anti-rabies and 9-in-1). She is really playful and naughty and loves cuddling up and sleeping at night. If no-one is around she cuddles up against my dog and sleeps next to him, or even the pillow suits her fine. She is tiny in size but extremely brave and loves to bark with her tiny voice, whenever she wants to protest.

I will be leaving Mumbai soon and don't have anyone who can take care of her after that. Please help me find a good home for her. I don't want to send her to a shelter on on to the streets. She is an excellent dog and would make a delightful addition to any family.

Update on Disco!

Remember the cute little pups Sudhir Arora had put up for adoption in August? Here's the link to the earlier appeal.

Sadly, one of the pups died. But the good news is, the little female is very healthy and is growing into a fine little dog. She's eight weeks old now and has been named Disco because of her many moves!

Please contact Sudhir on
sudhirarora85@gmail.com or 91-9004038563. The pup is in Mumbai.

Milo needs a home

An appeal from Mumbai dog-lover Dharmesh Thakker:

I found this tiny pup on the streets in Matheran last week. He is about a month old and was very scared and undernourished when I saw him. I like to call him "Milo."

I brought Milo with me to Mumbai and took him to a vet and right now am taking care of him at my home. Milo is very playful and I love him, but unfortunately I will not be able to take care of him for a long time, as all of us at my place are working and I guess dogs need more attention than we will be able to give. My idea was to bring Milo with me to save him and give him a new life. It will be really great for him to find a caring new home soon. I am not keen on sending him to a dog shelter or leaving him on the streets again.

Please help me find a home for him. Interested people can contact me on dharmesh84@gmail.com or 09820686611.

INDog-mix pup Fluffy needs a home

This little one month old pup was abandoned at Carter Road by a woman/monster. Luckily Aishwarya, an 11th standard student was passing by at that moment and saw what happened. The woman told her that the pup was getting on her nerves and she was dumping him.

The pup, Fluffy, is now at Aishwarya's place and needs a home really soon as her mother is not letting her keep him.

Please help with a home. Please. This is urgent. We have just 2 days before Fluffy gets deposited at the SPCA. Pass this message on to your friends.
