About Me

I'm a landrace dog fancier. Founder of the INDog Project (www.indog.co.in) and the INDog Club. Before that, I worked with urban free-ranging dogs of Mumbai from 1993-2007. Also a spider enthusiast and amateur arachnologist.

This blog is for primitive dog enthusiasts. It is part of the INDog Project www.indog.co.in. Only INDogs (India's primitive indigenous village dogs) and INDog-mixes (Indies) are featured here. The two are NOT the same, do please read the text on the right to understand the difference. Our aim: to create awareness about the primitive landrace village dog of the Indian subcontinent. I sometimes feature other landrace breeds too. Also see padsociety.org

Indian street dogs as security dogs: a database of incidents

This is self-explanatory...We all know INDogs and INDog-mix dogs are superior watchdogs, but incidents and examples have not been compiled in any one document, as far as I know. I've finally managed to collect instances which I've been sent over the last two years, into this database. Thank you very much, everyone who responded to my appeal. I specially want to thank canine behaviour expert Shirin Merchant for suggesting such a compilation in the first place.

This is just the first step and I'm sure there are thousands and millions more examples out there. Please spare a few minutes to email me anything you have heard about or experienced personally - on rajashree DOT khalap AT gmail DOT com
