About Me

My photo
Mumbai, India
I'm a landrace dog fancier. Founder of the INDog Project (www.indog.co.in) and the INDog Club. Before that, I worked with urban free-ranging dogs of Mumbai from 1993-2007. Also a spider enthusiast and amateur arachnologist.

This blog is for primitive dog enthusiasts. It is part of the INDog Project www.indog.co.in. Only INDogs (India's primitive indigenous village dogs) and INDog-mixes (Indies) are featured here. The two are NOT the same, do please read the text on the right to understand the difference. Our aim: to create awareness about the primitive landrace village dog of the Indian subcontinent. I sometimes feature other landrace breeds too. Also see padsociety.org

INDogs in the Sahyadris

My husband Kiran has standing instructions to click any good-looking INDogs that he sees on his trips here and there. He is usually very obedient (which is why we are still married), and dutifully clicked these lovely dogs on Sunday, while trekking in the Sahyadri mountains to a fort at Kalvantin.

Thanks a lot Kiran!!

As the magnificent monsoon clouds roll in, 1000 feet up in the Sahyadris, an INDog bares his tummy to the sky!

INDog portraits from Sakleshpur

Amazing INDog images by photographer Pritham Denzil D'Souza. These are his pets at his estate in Sakleshpur, Karnataka. The extreme close-ups were taken using a fish-eye lens.

Pritham posted these in the Facebook INDog Club page, and of course I asked if I could post them here.

Pritham, thanks!

Katie revisited

Is there anyone out there who has been following this blog from the start? Perhaps one or two people??

If you have, you'll remember Katie, the beautiful INDog-mix adopted byYvonne and Larry Koch in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. She was taken to the US in 2002. Here's her earlier post.

She will be 11 years old this week!

'I recently took this pic of her watching the neighborhood from our deck,' writes Yvonne. 'It is one of her favorite pastimes. She is always alert and protective of her family. Katie is still playful, loves going on long walks and shares her family with Paji, a nine year old rat terrier.'
