About Me

My photo
Mumbai, India
I'm a landrace dog fancier. Founder of the INDog Project (www.indog.co.in) and the INDog Club. Before that, I worked with urban free-ranging dogs of Mumbai from 1993-2007. Also a spider enthusiast and amateur arachnologist.

This blog is for primitive dog enthusiasts. It is part of the INDog Project www.indog.co.in. Only INDogs (India's primitive indigenous village dogs) and INDog-mixes (Indies) are featured here. The two are NOT the same, do please read the text on the right to understand the difference. Our aim: to create awareness about the primitive landrace village dog of the Indian subcontinent. I sometimes feature other landrace breeds too. Also see padsociety.org

Tolly Club dogs

Somewhat like Bustopher Jones (T S Eliot's Cat about Town who had "eight or nine clubs"), these privileged canines live at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata, with a beautiful golf course to roam in and lots of nice things to eat!

These lovely pictures were taken by hobby photographer and dog lover Nikhil Rawal. Nikhil, his wife Nina and young daughter Teesta are all great dog lovers and Teesta in particular has many furry friends on her street. The family own an elegant acrobatic feline named Kittu.

The INDog with the torn ear flap is I believe called Fudge - my husband Kiran made his acquaintance recently (more on that in another post).

Thanks for the images Nikhil!

Gorgeous. Shiny coats and fat bellies. Talk about living the good life.

What happy, contented dogs. Great to see. It's wonderful how the love of dogs unites so many of us.
